The MSI GV62 is an entry-level gaming laptop that comes with the GTX 1050 TI and quad-core Intel 8300H. If you get the model with 8 GB of RAM then remember that you only get a single stick of RAM in single channel which can reduce performance but you can add another stick of RAM down the line or get the 16 GB RAM option.
The laptop is made of plastic with a brushed finished so that it does not feel cheap. This is not the slimmest laptop in the world and does have some bulk but that could help with thermals. The laptop is not too heavy. The screen is a 1080p 60Hz TN panel. Having that said, the color accuracy and viewing angles are not too good.
The screen does have some flex but the laptop is built well keeping in mind the price. It does come with a Steel Series keyboard that has Red LED lighting. The lighting cannot be changed and the keys do feel clicky. There is some flex on the keyboard and around the trackpad but its not something that you will feel in daily use.
The MSI GV62 comes with plenty of I/O and the only thing that you do not get is a Thunderbolt 3 port. On the bottom, you have the rubber feet that keep the laptop in place along with the vents that are responsible for air flow. Getting access to the internal components is pretty easy and all you need is a Philips head screwdriver.
Once inside, you have access to the RAM, storage and Wi-Fi card which can be swapped or upgraded easily. The 6 cell 41WH battery is pretty small compared to other laptops but you do get battery life out of it. You can watch YoutTube for a little more than 3 hours and you can play a game for around 45 minutes, which is very impressive indeed.
The fans are pretty silent when you browse the internet or perform other day to day tasks but when gaming the noise does increase a but. Talking about performance, Fornite is playable at Ultra settings and you get 60 FPS. Turning the graphics down to Medium will get you an additional 10-13 FPS. The same is the case with Overwatch but to play PUBG at 1080p 60 FPS you will need to turn down the graphics setting to Low.
The GV62 is an impressive gaming laptop but you should only get it if you are on a budget or are only interested in playing light games such as Overwatch of PUBG. If you want to play AAA titles at 1080p 60 FPS then you will need a laptop that is a bit more powerful than this one.

The design is clean as compared to other gaming laptops that fall in the same price bracket. There is a Red bar but the rest of the laptop is Black. The port selection is pretty standard and you even get a USB-C port but it is not Thunderbolt 3. The display is an ISP panel so you do get better viewing angles and colors
Both the trackpad and keyboard are very good for the price. The trackpad used Window Precision drivers so it doesn’t get much better than that. The speakers are positioned at the bottom and while they are not bad, they are not great either. This is an $800 gaming laptop so the sound quality is likewise.
The Acer Nitro 5 is built well. The top is made of metal and the rest of the body is plastic but it does not feel cheap. You can access the storage and RAM pretty easily if you need to upgrade the components down the line. The battery is decent and you can get 4 hours of battery life depending on what you are doing.

HP Pavilion 15
The HP Pavilion 15 is a great gaming laptop to consider if you want something that looks like the Omen 15 but you do not want to spend as much money. The laptop is thinner and lighter than many gaming laptops that fall in this segment including the Omen 15 and has a very clean look which is something that some gamers prefer.
The HP Pavilion 15 is built well and has a great finish with no panel gaps. The central hinge is something that you might be concerned about when using the HP Pavilion 15 as it makes the display feel very flimsy and this could fail over time. The keyboard deck is made of brushed Aluminum and the keys feel great too. The keys have Green lighting but you can turn the lights off as well.
The trackpad is relatively small and while it is just fine for moving the cursor around the gestures are terrible. There is a 720p webcam that is very clear but the colors are not too accurate. It will get the job done and as this is a gaming laptop you might not use the webcam at all.
For graphics, you have the GTX 1050 Ti which is a very decent card for gaming at 1080p. The laptop also features the Intel Core i5-8300H and 8GB of RAM. The display is a 1080p 60 Hz IPS panel and is fine for casual gaming but if you are interested in light content creation then you should opt for a configuration that comes with a better display.
You get plenty of ports on the HP Pavilion 15 but there is no Thunderbolt 3 port like other gaming laptops in this price range. Getting access to the internals is pretty easy and you can upgrade the RAM, storage and Wi-Fi card down the line if needed.

The overall built quality is decent and we get the Asus design that the company is known for. The screen is a 15.3-inch 1080p 60Hz TN panel. This means that the viewing angles are not great and the brightness is not too high either. The hinges are on the far sides of the display so the display is sturdy and you do not notice any flex when using the device.
The laptop has a fairly distributed weight and opening it up with one hand is possible. The keyboard is great and is quiet. Not only are they great for gaming but for typing as well. The touchpad is smooth and works well. You also get separate left and right buttons. There are plenty of ports but you do not get a USB-C port.

You get all the ports that you expect from a laptop in this price range but the base model does not come with USB-C. The screen is alright for gaming but it is not particularly bright or color accurate. The keyboard is a major selling point of this device/ The layout is impressive and so is the key travel. The trackpad is not the best in the world and while it does use Windows Precision drivers is has a texture to it and some wobble which is not ideal for a trackpad.
The Dell G3 15 3579 is able to run games like Overwatch and Rainbow 6 Siege at around 100 FPS using the High preset. Other games such as Fortnite and Doom are playing at over 60 FPS at the same settings. AAA titles like The Witcher 3 that are more graphics intensive will run at 45 FPS.
