MSI

MSI, short for Micro-Star International, is a Taiwanese hardware manufacturer founded in 1986. The company has been one of the world’s largest manufacturers of motherboards and graphics cards for many years, but also produces other PC hardware, including laptops. MSI is also an original design manufacturer (ODM), meaning that partner companies may sell MSI products under their own brands.

Most MSI laptops are performance- or gaming-oriented, ranging from a relatively high-performing entry level to the extreme – as seen in e.g. the GT Titan series. The company’s gaming notebooks are categorized by the first two letters in their model names:

• GV series: Entry-level gaming laptops (15.6″ and 17.3″).
• GF series: Entry-level, thin-and-light form factor (15.6″ and 17.3″).
• GL series: Entry-level/mid-range (15.6″ and 17.3″).
• GP series: Mid-range (15.6″ and 17.3″).
• GE series: Mid-range/high-end (15.6″ and 17.3″).
• GS series: Mid-range/high-end, thin-and-light form factor (15.6″ and 17.3″).
• GT series: High-end/extreme (15.6″, 17.3″ and 18.4″).
