The 17.3-inch form factor is considered large by most users, but a large display is usually considered a plus on a gaming laptop, so it’s the most common display size right after 15.6″. Most manufacturers offer laptops in this size category, which is the starting point for what’s called ‘desktop replacements’.
In terms of performance and thermals, a 17-inch laptop is usually better than 15-inch laptops at handling excess heat from high-performance components, simply due to the added space for cooling. It’s worth noting, however, that more recent 17.3″ models have thinner bezels and are not much larger than older 15.6″ laptops.
