If you are currently working on the optimal configuration of a new Alienware M17x, you might want to hold off that purchase for a couple of weeks. According to the latest rumor, there’s a substantially revised version on the way. This third revision of the Alienware M17x, the 17-inch gaming monster allegedly gets a bump to the latest mobile GPUs from AMD – the Mobility Radeon 6870/6970. Those with a slightly smaller budget may optionally want to consider an Nvidia GTX 460M – also a new addition in R3.
Another new optional add-on might be a 3D-capable (120Hz) display, possibly with an Nvidia 3D kit in tow, as well as a 3.2-megapixel web cam. This will all be powered by a new 9-cell 93Wh battery that should improve the battery life, although it will most likely still be short considering the components in this beast.
