Origin PC just launched the EON17 – a new customizable gaming laptop that uses desktop CPUs and RAM. This opens up the opportunity to configure a laptop with Intel’s Core i7 hexa-core processors (with 12 threads) and up to 24 gigs of triple channel RAM. On top of that there’s room for no less than three hard drives or SSDs, two of which can be run in RAID0.
In the graphics department you can equip it with dual Nvidia GTX 480M in SLI mode, which is the fastest mobile GPU solution on the market right now, just ahead of dual Radeon HD5870’s.
Weighing in a just oven 12 pounds (5,5kg), this is not the kind of laptop you pull out in a crowded airplane, but it definitely has the potential to be the most powerful portable computer on the planet.
Obviously, configuring it with the fastest components is going to be expensive – although the base configuration starts at $2,499, you can easily equip it with hardware for more than $10,000. But if you want the best…. Check it out on originpc.com.
