Black Friday Gaming Laptop Deals

The best deals of the year are here, and we have meticulously sorted the wheat from the chaff in the gaming laptop segment. As it turns out, there are quite a few great deals available on excellent machines. There are different limitations in terms of expiry date, stock and/or coupons redeemed and we can’t check and re-check them all. The short version is that it’s best to hurry up before the deals expire.

Alienware

m18xFirst of all, Alienware is running their best offer in several months. It’s valid for four days (expires 11/29/11). The coupon is worth $100 extra in savings on ANY Alienware laptop and includes free shipping. Newegg

Click on the picture on the left to view Newegg’s complete Black Friday listing. Head for page 3 and scroll to the bottom to find some very interesting deals on ASUS’ Republic of Gamers laptops as well as a couple of MSI laptops. These are selling out quickly, so even though the listing will be up for another couple of days it’s better to act fast.

One of the best deals in terms of value for money is a recertified ASUS G73 laptop with a 2nd-generation Core i7 quad core processor and an NVIDIA GTX 460Mgraphics card that is selling for just $859.99! The newer and slightly faster G74SX is also available starting at $1,149.99 (new).

Additionally, the equally fast but smaller MSI GT683R is selling for just $1,169.99 after using a mail-in rebate card.

TigerDirect

ASUS G53Follow this link [expired] to get straight to TigerDirect’s Black Friday page and scroll down to around the middle of the page to find a couple of very attractive offers. One is for a brand new ASUS G53SX (read our review here) for just $899.99 including a Blu-ray drive! Even more importantly, this laptop comes with a 2nd-gen (Sandy Bridge) quad-core Core i7 processor and the NVIDIA GTX 560M.

The larger and also brand new G74SX with the even faster Core i7-2670QM plus a GTX 560M with 3GB of Video RAM and a 192-bit memory bus, plus 12GB of RAM is selling for only $1,249.99–a real bargain on this laptop, which has just been upgraded with a new processor and normally sells for $1,479.99.

Toshiba

Toshiba Qosmio x770Here’s the link to Toshiba’s Black Friday Deals. [expired] These are valid until 11/27 and the most interesting option for gamers is of course the latest Qosmio laptops located at the bottom of the page. The deal is $300 off plus 30% off upgrades! This is not bad at all considering that the starting price is $999 or $1,199 for the quad-core version with a brand new Core i7 2670QM.

The new 17-inch Qosmio X770 lineup come standard with an NVIDIA GTX 560M graphics card, backlit keyboards and Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs. It also has room for dual hard drives or even better, an SSD + hard drive combination. There’s also an option for an affordable upgrade to a Hybrid drive (likely a Seagate Momentus XT).

  1. Got it and answered it. What the *** is wrong with my email? 😐 I must be sending to the right address now and the weirdest thing is that I’m getting through to others. At any rate, I will try resending from my old hotmail account ASAP and I hope that it works better this time. Sorry about the long wait and thanks for letting me know!

  2. Hey Berg, i send you an email on the 7th. It is been 3 days, could you let me know if you received it? If not I can send another one. Thanks

  3. @cantafford: I sent you an email but it came back with an error message. Do you have another one? Otherwise you can drop me an email at ‘admin (at) gaminglaptopreport.com’ and I will reply to that one. Thanks!

  4. Yes. Tell me what you need

  5. Awesome! You don’t have to worry about the benchmarking procedure, it’s really quite simple and I’ll walk you through everything. Can I reach you on the email you are using to comment to discuss the details?

  6. Hey Berg,
The laptop just arrived today. I am currently typing on it. It took a little bit longer because I took some manuovers to avoid taxes. So I thought about your offer. I would love to help you and if you were thinking about paying for the review that just only sweetens the deal. However, I am not as computer savvy as you are, and I have some doubts about my ability to perform the task. If you can, you can walk me through, or point me to a website that explains how to and what you are looking for, i.e. benchmarking. I will try my best to get the results, send them to you. Then you can think about if they were worth paying for or things like that.

  7. I hope the MSI delivers. It should definitely be fast with those specs. If you feel like sharing later on I’d be happy to pay for an honest review of the machine. I’ve been thinking about getting a GT683 in the barebones version, so I’m very curious.

  8. nah i got the MSI G Series GT683DXR-423US and i am not thinking about returning this one, so i am not going to read anymore reviews. it is a little more than what I originally planned to spend. But I feel it is a top of the line product, #2 in your top 10. and It is a decent deal for $1300 after shipping n tax for something like that. Now I just have to worry about figuring out turbo boost and twicking it. You have been a lot of help, thank you.

  9. Here’s a number of other reviews for the whole GT680 series: http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GT680-Series.47080.0.html

On the whole it seems to fare quite well. Engadget’s seems to be one of the most negative, but they still recommend it.

  10. Wow there are actually quite a bit of negative reviews on that link you posted. Too bad i already pulled the trigger

  11. @PJ: It depends a lot on what size you prefer. If you’re looking for a desktop replacement, both the ASUS G74SX and the new Toshiba Qosmio offer good value IMO. Among the smaller variants the M14x is a personal favorite (preferably quad core i7).

@cantafford: No problem at all! For $1249 with the MIR, that’s definitely a lot of hardware for the money. I don’t have any personal experience with the latest MSI laptops, but Engadget has a review here: http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/10/msi-gt683dxr-review/ (Very impressive 3DMark score thanks to the GTX 570M).
About the first question I usually keep the laptops for a while and sell them, then rinse + repeat. Usually I pry them open and experiment a bit (nasty old habit), so returning them is pretty much out of the question 🙂

  12. Hey Berg,

Sorry for keep brothering u, u have been a tremendous help. Can you tell me what you think about this offer?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152286

I feel the asus 53 has 2 fatal weakness the 128 bus and low rpm HD.. but I feel this one is just flawless for $300 more.

  13. What do you think is the best bang for my buck. I’m at a price range of about 1,200(which includes some kind of extended warranty)

  14. Haha that’s probably out of my price range. I was thinking something around $1000, 15″, quad core 2.2,3.0+, 8Gb of mem, 1900 x 1080, any 7200 rpm HD, most importantly with a really nice graphic card. Weight, size doesnt matter. I know thats asking a lot but I know it is out there, I just gatta find it.
Btw Berg, what do you do with the laptop after you reviewed them? Can you just return them? Or are you collecting them

  15. That’s probably a good choice too. I just received a P150HM with the GTX 580M, which actually has a smaller footprint and weighs less than the G53 (will post a review soon). On the downside it’s hideously expensive with the 580M…

  16. Hey Berg,

I think I will definately return the HP. but I will probably not get the ASUS. for the reason of 128 bus on the 560M. I should probably continue researching/learning and hopefully something just right will come along. Maybe a P151HM1, altho it doesnt seem to have much of a discount today.

  17. Hi again and happy thanksgiving!
That’s a difficult question that mostly comes down to personal preference. Those are two very different laptops and you have a slightly faster CPU in the dv6t and nice overall specs. The GTX 560M in the G53 on the other hand is clearly a faster GPU, but the tradeoff is that the G53 is much larger and heavier. If I personally had to pick one I’m not sure which one I’d end up with. As a desktop replacement I’d probably go with the ASUS, but for something that I would carry around on a regular basis the dv6t is a really good compromise between performance and weight.

  18. Hey Berg,

First of all, happy thanks giving.

It seems I made the wrong decision purchasing too early. the ASUS G53SX-XT1 15.6 from tiger direct has NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M for $900 is a much better deal than my HP with Radeon(TM) HD 6770M for 1100. both before tax and shipping. I feel I should return for the hp and go for the GPU upgrade and money saving. what do you think?

    my exact specs are

    2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2720QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz
    • 2GB Radeon(TM) HD 6770M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
    • FREE UPGRADE to 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 750GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • 15.6″ Full HD HP Anti-glare LED (1920 x 1080)
